The Biggest Solar Power Plant 400MW Project Coming in Krung Angkor, Cambodia.
Additional renewable energy generated by solar power will coming soon in Krung Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Kingdom of Cambodia from a new stations scheduled to be linked to the grid early this year 2023. They include a 400 megawatt (mW) solar plant in Krung Angkor owned by Khmer Foundation Investments Group (KFIG) and Nine Biomass Savan Co Ltd. Besides , Dr. Sarom Tem, Chairman of KFIG as noted Cambodia will soon have a greater array of green energy sources available to help meet the nation’s power consumption demands. Currently the Kingdom meets its energy needs from hydroelectric dams, wind power, coal-fired power plants, some solar generation and energy imports etc.
According to Dr. Sarom Tem, Cambodia produces sufficient power to supply 80 percent of local demand, with the balance made up by imports from neighbouring countries. Additionally, We have investment plan of project solar power plant 400 MW to support the electric for great of grand city in Krung Angkor. This project is the first large solar firm project of land 1,000 Hectares with grand total of investment is US$ 500 million as up to US$ 1.5 billions in Cambodia and an important project to increase the share of renewable energy generation in the Kingdom. However, Cambodia as well as Krung Angkor has been grappling with an ever-increasing demand for electricity as said by Mr. Thossaphon KAENPROM, Vice President of Nine Biomass Savan Co., Ltd ( NBS).
